Plugins of Hitfilm 3 Pro are present without additional actions when you install Magix Vegas Pro 14 (at least on my computer where I have Vegas Pro 13 installed too, OFX plugins). However the integration of Hitfilm 3 Pro from the timeline is not present in Vegas Pro 14. So no right click on a clip to switch to Hitfilm 3 Pro to manipulate the clip. The integration with Vegas Pro 14 ‘ll work with Hitfilm 4 Pro, but I ‘m still satisfied with Hitfilm 3 Pro.
It is unlikely that FXHome ‘ll release an installer for the older Hitfilm 3 Pro in combination with Vegas Pro 14.
On the web I found some instructions from people who want to do some simular things with Hitfilm and Sony Movie Studio. With these hints, some changes and some trial and error I managed to integrate Hitfilm 3 Pro in Vegas Pro 14 from the timeline.
Are you curious?
The steps below worked for me.
I suppose you have installed and activated with your licenses Hitfilm 3 Pro and Magix Vegas Pro 14, you have Windows administrator rights and you are familiar with basic (Windows) file and folder manipulations.
- Download the Hitfilm 4 Pro Demo ( https://hitfilm.com/pro). It has no time limit to use.
- Start the installer and select “custom”.
- Deselect “Imagineer mocha Hitfilm”.
- Complete the installation.
- Start Hitfilm 4 Pro and close it (no activation).
- Start Magix Vegas Pro 14, add some clips on the timeline and select a clip.
- Right click on the selected clip. You should see a menu with a menu entry “Add Hitfilm Effect”.
- Close Vegas.
- Duplicate (copy and paste) your Hitfilm 4 Pro folder (C:\Program Files\FXhome\HitFilm 4 Pro) and name it “Backup HitFilm 4 Pro”.
- Delete all the files and folders in your Hitfilm 4 Pro folder (C:\Program Files\FXhome\HitFilm 4 Pro).
- Copy all the files and folders of your Hitfilm 3 Pro folder (C:\Program Files\FXhome\HitFilm 3 Pro) to your Hitfilm 4 Pro folder (C:\Program Files\FXhome\HitFilm 4 Pro).
- Copy the file “HitFilmFileIOPlugin.dll” of your backup folder (C:\Program Files\FXhome\Backup HitFilm 4 Pro) to your Hitfilm 4 Pro folder. Overwrite the existing file.
- Start Magix Vegas Pro 14, add some clips on the timeline and select a clip.
- Right click on the selected clip. You should see a menu with a menu entry “Add Hitfilm Effect”.
- If everything is OK, Hitfilm 3 Pro ‘ll open with the selected clip and the integration is successful.
